Durian buffet draws over 3,000 to Bukit Jalil

MORE than 3,000 durian enthusiasts including foreign visitors feasted to their heart’s content at the third edition of Malaysia International Durian and Cultural Fest.

The all-you-can-eat buffet dedicated to the king of the fruits was held at Pavilion Bukit Jalil in Kuala Lumpur.

The festival was jointly organised by DKing and LKE Musang Queen Sdn Bhd.

DKing founder Leron Yee said he was glad the event could take place during the durian season, after being postponed for two months.

“This is a good opportunity for people to try out the varieties of durian such as D101, D24, Red Prawn, Butter King and high- quality Musang King all in one place,” he said during the launch of the three-day event.

LKE co-founder and managing director Jeremy Chin said, “Demand for durian is rising and we need to enhance agricultural productivity.

“We are embracing the integration of smart farming with Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to elevate our farming practices and achieve even greater results.”

Present during the launch were Tourism Malaysia director- general Datuk Dr Ammar Abdul Ghapar as well as brand ambassadors model Amber Chia, 988 radio deejay Chan Fong and actor Aaron Aziz.

Ammar said Malaysia was poised to receive at least 18 million visitors this year.

He said events like the durian festival had the potential to draw domestic and international visitors.

“We are gearing up for Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

“It is not only about promoting destinations but also unique Malaysian products like the durian.

A Durian Fun Run with over 1,200 participants was a highlight of the event. Lucky draws and performances added more fun for the durian enthusiasts.
