Glam entry into Seremban food scene

Glam Kampung Fried Rice is an update of a classic dish.

SEREMBAN is famed for its delicious hawker fare such as Hakka mee, siew pau and beef noodles.

However, when it comes to less casual dining options, there are few in the city.

The Glam Lounge Restaurant at My Fame Hotel (formerly City Kingdom) aims to change that with its repertoire of glammed-up Asian and Western dishes served in a sparkly setting.

Saravanan Subramaniam, who owns and manages My Fame Hotel and The Glam Lounge Restaurant, said his wife coined the restaurant’s name.

“We love trying new food and wanted to bring a little bit of glamour to the Seremban dining scene.

“We offer familiar flavours presented in a stylish setting,” he said, adding that hotel guests were entitled to a 10% discount at the restaurant.

The “glam” factor starts with the restaurant’s decor which features walls with shimmering silver panels and ceilings adorned with chandeliers.

The extensive menu of over 50 dishes, ranging from rice sets to pizza, does not disappoint.

While there are plans to tweak the menu every few months, the current list will please most palates.

Signature items include Glam Kampung Fried Rice (RM32.90), an update on a classic, served with chicken satay and crispy fried chicken wings.

Glam Nasi Ayam Penyet (RM25.90) is an elegant plating of the Indonesian street favourite.

What makes these dishes stand out is their presentation and attention to detail. This is a source of pride for chef Mohd Zainal Omar who heads the restaurant’s kitchen.

The Sabahan, better known as Jay, has over 20 years’ experience in hotel restaurants.

“We want guests to get value for money, hence the generous portions with extra accompaniments like satay and fried chicken.

“Quality is also important and most of the gravies and sauces are house-made.”
