SIBU police have been instructed to investigate each complaint received from the public and not neglect their duties.

Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Zulkipli Suhaili said investigating every case with integrity would help prevent community dissatisfaction with the quality of police work.

“Investigating officers must equip themselves with legal skills.

“They must also be aware of standard operating procedure used to overcome weaknesses and negligence in conducting an inquiry.

“We don’t want to allow the community or any particular group an opportunity to throw insults because they lack confidence in the police,” he said after the Sibu police monthly parade.

ACP Zulkipli added that community satisfaction was a yardstick to gauge the quality of police services as a whole.

“Members of the police force must always provide excellent and quality service to the public when out on the field or at the complaints counter.

“I call on all members of the Sibu police to cooperate in ensuring the quality of service is in accordance with the theme of the force which is ‘police and society are not separated’,” he said.

ACP Zulkifli also reminded police personnel to be polite when interacting with the public.

He stressed that the Sibu police force needed to transform its way of working into a first-class work culture based on more complex and intellectual thinking. — By ANDY CHUA
