Sepang Municipal Council (MPSepang) is tabling a deficit budget for 2024.

Its president Datuk Abd Hamid Hussain (pic below) said that close to RM250mil had been allocated for the year against an expected revenue of RM202mil. This amounts to a shortfall of RM48mil.

He said the budget was themed “Sepang Pemacu Kecemerlangan” (Sepang Towards Excellence).

Abd Hamid said the council was focused on seven main strategies.

They include diversifying its existing sources of income while adding new ones and prudent spending.

Other strategies are improving services in terms of cleanliness, and using information and communication technology (ICT) for better customer accessibility.

“We would also like to strengthen community ties and improve welfare programmes for Sepang residents.

“Lastly, we want to increase innovation in green technology.”

He said the council was focused on the welfare of the people of Sepang.

“In view of the economic uncertainty in Malaysia, we have prepared an inclusive budget, taking into account social aspects, infrastructure and public facilities for the benefit of all Sepang residents,”he said.

On a separate matter, Abd Hamid said a total 500kg of waste and 782 cigarette butts were collected along Pantai Bagan Lalang during the municipality’s World Clean Up Day celebration on Sept 17.

He said the event involved 305 volunteers from the public and private sectors.
