GUESTS of Mid-Autumn Festival Dinner 2023 gave thunderous applause as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Raja Permaisuri Agong walked into the ballroom at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur.
Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah were there to attend “Majlis Santapan Malam Festival Tanglung Perpaduan Cina 2023”.
The royal couple were clad in matching bright red attire and marked the occasion with a mooncake cutting ceremony.
The dinner at Hotel Majestic was organised by The Federation of Malaysia Lim Associations.
Federation acting president Tan Sri Lim Hock San expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the king and queen for gracing the dinner.
“We are deeply honoured by the presence of our Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Raja Permaisuri Agong despite their busy schedule and recent return from Kembara Kenali Borneo expedition.
“The majesties’ presence further enhances the joy and togetherness we cherish and symbolises the unity amidst diversity of cultures of our nation,” said Lim, who is also LBS Bina executive chairman.
He said the Mid-Autumn Festival was also known locally as the tanglung festival, and symbolised unity among family and community.
“In Malaysia, Mid-Autumn Festival transcends cultural boundaries, showcasing the nation’s ability to embrace diverse cultures while fostering harmony.”
Lim also announced that the annual meeting of The Federation of the World’s Lim Clan Association would take place in November, with hundreds of guests expected from around the world.
The association said it was committed to hosting an outstanding meeting that would leave a positive impression of Malaysia among participants and visitors.
The dinner also highlighted the federation’s activities and goals, particularly its commitment to corporate social responsibility and strengthening the Lim community, with a primary focus on education, healthcare and infrastructure improvements.
