Partial road closure in Kg Tasek Permai for pipe works

One lane at Jalan Taman Putra, Kampung Tasek Permai is taken up for pipe installation works for the Langat 2 project.

RESIDENTS and motorists in Kampung Tasek Permai, Ampang Jaya, Selangor can expect an increase in traffic congestion in the area following a planned lane closure to facilitate pipe installation works for the Langat 2 water treatment plant and distribution system (LRAL2).

One lane of Jalan Permai E, at the intersection of Jalan Taman Putra, will be closed for a month starting next week.

This means there will be only one lane for traffic to go in and out of Jalan Permai E, says Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) councillor Mohammad Firdaus Babh.

“As this road (Jalan Permai E) is one of the main roads used by residents here, we can expect this stretch to become congested.

“As an alternative, motorists can use Jalan Besar Permai and turn into Jalan Permai C, to get onto Jalan Taman Putra,” he said.

Mohammad Firdaus said pipe-laying works at the Jalan Taman Putra stretch was expected to be completed by the end of the year.

QSE Construction Sdn Bhd site agent Azrul Izuan Norhaiddin said repaving of the roads would be carried out once pipe-laying works were completed.

The company is one of the contractors for the LRAL2 project.

“Once the work is completed, we will do temporary paving as we have to wait for the premix to settle first,” he said, adding that this was part of Package 15(2) of LRAL2.

He said flagmen would be placed at the site for safety purposes and kerb-to-kerb paving of Jalan Taman Putra would be done after three months.

Chapel of Ascension of the Lord leader Gabral Anelandu said he would help spread the message of the closure to the community.

“It is quite a major thing as there are at least three schools here and several housing estates.

“Hopefully, the work is carried out safely and within the stipulated timeline,” he added.

Package 15(2) of the project starts from Lembah Jaya Selatan to Taman Pudu Ulu, covering 9km, and is estimated to cost RM26mil.
