Award-winning Chinese acrobatic troupe expected to attract some 33,000 people

MELAKA: Melaka-based tourism property developer Yong Tai Berhad (YTB) is expecting close to 33,000 people to attend a special show by the Guangxi Acrobatic Troupe of China.

In a statement on Wednesday (Oct 11), YTB said the show dubbed as "The Bountiful Harvest of Baiyue" would go on at Encore Melaka Theatre until Oct 29.

YTB said it was hoped that the continued cultural and artistic exchange between Malaysia and China would result in an increase in tourism to the state.

The performance is meant to chronicle the traditional lifestyle, history, and culture of the "Zhuang" people, who originated from the Guangxi province in China.

The show would feature the multi-award-winning Guangxi Acrobatic Troupe, which has over 70 years of experience. The troupe would be combining complex acrobatic actions with breathtaking aerial artistry to push the limits of human capabilities.

The troupe will tell the story of a paddy harvest using a blend of artistic tools, percussion, folk music, mimicry, and dances in acrobatic ways.

The performance involved many challenging stunts that pushed the boundaries of human limits, offering the audience a full 80-minute spectacle of exciting stunts.
