SUBANG Jaya City Council (MBSJ) will undertake a RM51.5mil traffic dispersal project in USJ1, Subang Jaya, to offer alternative access at the intersection of Persiaran Kewajipan and Persiaran Subang.
Subang Jaya deputy mayor Mohd Zulkurnain Che Ali said the structure would be an elevated, dedicated road for those coming from Persiaran Subang Permai intersection, bypassing traffic lights at Persiaran Kewajipan intersection, on their way towards Shah Alam Expressway (Kesas) and Federal Highway.
It was reported in July this year that the alternative route was expected to benefit some 10,000 residents.
MBSJ Corporate Communica-tions Division said in a press statement that the project’s objectives were to open up a new route to speed up travel, shorten travel times and reduce traffic congestion, especially during peak hours.
“Construction of this project started in June and is expected to be fully completed two years later in June 2025.
“This project was carried out following a traffic impact assessment (TIA) submitted to the city council.
“It is in line with MBSJ’s Strategic Plan and Special Action Plan (2022-2025) for efficient and safe road management through a better road network.”
The statement added that the high-impact project was in line with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities to provide safe transport system for public use and to improve road safety, while also supporting MBSJ’s vision to make Subang Jaya a sustainable city.
