Knights Award to host second gala

AFTER the success of The Knights Award that recognised outstanding accomplishments of businesses across Asia in June, a second event is planned for December.

Uknighted Business Club founder Dr Zyro Wong wanted to see more individuals and companies being recognised, after 70 winners from six countries received accolades at the first awards gala.

“We believe that by providing this platform, we are contributing to the growth and development of the business community in our nation.

“Our aim is to inspire entrepreneurs to pursue their business goals, irrespective of their company size or industry,” he said.

Wong said in December, they planned to present around 60 awards, as they prioritised quality over quantity.

“We hope 30% of the nominations will come from overseas, marking an increase of 20%,” he added.

The first event, he said, received overwhelming response.

“We have the vision and mission to potentially host the third or fourth season in another country, likely China,” he added.

There was a signing of three Memorandums of Understanding between The Knights Award and the Malaysia-China Silk Road Business Chamber, Influasia and Chamrun Digital Group.

Malaysia-China Silk Road Business Chamber president Tan Sri Ong Tee Keat hoped to see more foreign entrepreneur nominations.

“We hope to see entrepreneurs from other countries come on board and make this an international event,” he said.

There are three award categories - Duke Award, Earl Award and Baron Award.

Present during the launch were some of the Council of Lords, including Chamrun Digital Group founder Prof Dr Behrang (Hani) Parhizkar, Financial and Housing Cooperative chairman Datuk Ismail Nordin, Malaysian Multimedia University founder and president Prof Tan Sri Dr Ghauth Jasmon, National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia council member Datuk Dr Kumararajah, Smileway Dental Clinic principal Dr Jon Low, HMS Law founding partner Esther Hor and Influasia founder Chris Khristie.

The next awards ceremony is scheduled to take place at W Hotel in Kuala Lumpur on Dec 13.
