‘The Bountiful Harvest of Baiyue’, chronicling the traditional lifestyle, history and culture of the Zhuang people from China’s Guangxi province, is being performed at Encore Melaka Theatre.
MELAKA-based tourism property developer Yong Tai Bhd (YTB) expects 33,000 people to watch China’s Guangxi Acrobatic Troupe perform at Encore Melaka Theatre.
The troupe will perform “The Bountiful Harvest of Baiyue” at the theatre until Oct 29.
In a statement, YTB said the performance, which chronicled the traditional lifestyle, history and culture of the Zhuang people who originate from the Guangxi province, would hopefully result in an increase in tourism to the state.
The multi-award-winning Guangxi Acrobatic Troupe, which has performed for over 70 years, will tell the story of a padi harvest using a blend of artistic tools, percussion, folk music, mimicry and acrobatic dancing.
The 60-member troupe, which includes their youngest performer aged 10, hopes to mesmerise audience with intricate acrobatics and stunning aerial performances that push the limits of human capability, in the 80-minute show.
YTB managing director cum chief executive officer Datuk Leong Sir Ley said, “We at YTB sincerely believe that Malaysia has so much to offer and become a premier tourist destination globally.”
