Sibu Kidney Foundation (SKF) in Sarawak will replace its old equipment, to provide better and quality service to patients.
“We strive to provide the best dialysis service and we also try to do more by educating the public on how to avoid kidney failure,” said its chairman Temenggong Datuk Vincent Lau after receiving four dialysis machines from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He said SKF had bought two auto-Hdf (Hemodia-filtration) machines and was contemplating replacing one of its reverse osmosis (RO) systems, which had served SKF since its formation 30 years ago and had been breaking down.
“The system is expected to cost us RM170,000,” said Lau.
SKF is also looking to add dialysis stations to cater for the increasing number of patients.
“We are applying to the authority to add nine more dialysis stations to cater for 96 patients. But we need to look at our financial capability.”
SKF currently has 25 dialysis machines serving 83 patients in two shifts.
Lau stressed that SKF was able to continue providing dialysis treatment due to the strong financial support from the community.
