The structure collapsed after a downpour in the city on Saturday (Oct 28) afternoon. There were reports of three minor injuries.

“We regret to inform you that the ceiling of the car porch in front of Megah Rise Mall entrance collapsed during strong winds and heavy downpours this afternoon at approximately 3pm, resulting in three minor injuries,” said Megah Rise Mall in a Facebook post.

“We are currently investigating the cause of the incident and are taking immediate action to manage and address the situation.

“Our top priority is the safety and well-being of our community.”

Megah Rise Mall is a pet-friendly mall and the structure that collapsed affected one of the access points for pets and their owners.

“We are currently assessing the situation and will provide an update as soon as possible.

“The entire entrance is inaccessible but in the meantime, you can take the lift from the carpark basement to the first floor with your pets,” said the mall to a query on pet accessibility.
