A NEW traditional and complementary medicine centre has opened at UCSI Hospital in Bandar Springhill near Port Dickson, Negri Sembilan.

Guest of honour Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said, “I understand that UCSI TCM is the first such private centre to collaborate with a local university and hospital, which is also in line with the government’s vision to integrate traditional and complementary medicine with modern medicine.”

Aminuddin hoped this would lead to more TCMs in hospitals nationwide, adding that 15 traditional and complementary units had been established at government hospitals from 2007 to 2015.

Also present at the event were UCSI Group advisor and UCSI University Pro-chancellor Tunku Zain Al-Abidin Tuanku Muhriz and UCSI Healthcare Group chairman Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

UCSI Hospital TCM director Asst Prof Dr Teo Chiah Shean said the centre would provide patients with invaluable options on their road to recovery.

“We aim to integrate traditional and complementary medicine into world-class patient care, education and research to enhance health and longevity.

“What sets us apart is our commitment to integration, embodied on two distinct levels.

“The first entails merging TCM with contemporary medical practices, while the second revolves around the synergy within our centre itself.”

He added that the centre offered a diverse range of services encompassing traditional Malay medicine therapies, traditional Chinese medicine treatments and chiropractic care.

Established in 2021, UCSI Hospital is part of the UCSI Health Metropolis, a project that is seeking to turn Bandar Springhill into a medical tourism hub.
