STAKEHOLDERS will be invited to give their feedback on the draft Kuala Lumpur Local Plan 2040 (KLLP2040) starting January next year.

Datuk Azman Abidin, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s aide, said the draft plan would be displayed for public viewing for a month.

“The exhibition will be held at selected public locations and government complexes throughout the capital city.

“During this time, residents' associations and other interest groups in Kuala Lumpur can submit their objections,” he said.

Azman added that public hearing sessions would be held afterwards to address any concerns raised during the objection period.

“This process will take three months, subject to extensions, depending on the volume of objections received by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL),” he said.

The local plan outlines the proposed developments for specific sites in the city and is one of two components of Kuala Lumpur City Plan 2040, apart from KLSP2040.

Azman spoke at a press conference at DBKL headquarters in Jalan Raja Laut on Thursday (Nov 2) to announce the gazettement of Kuala Lumpur Structure Plan 2040 (KLSP2040).

He noted that KLSP2040 had been gazetted on Oct 17 after taking into account more than 1,000 objections from stakeholders.

He said the KLSP2040 was supposed to be gazetted by end 2022 but was delayed following stakeholders’ requests to extend the objection period.

He also added that the majority of the complaints related to land zoning and the preservation of green spaces and retention ponds.

“The Prime Minister is expected to officially launch the new structure plan on Nov 23 to replace KLSP2020.

“Hard copies of the document will be available for sale after that,” he said, adding that the copies were priced RM120.

The structure plan outlines the objectives and proposals for development, land use, environment, social aspects and traffic management.
