AROUND the Klang Valley, shopping complexes have transformed into enchanting epicentres of culture and tradition as the Festival of Lights approaches.

Visitors can expect to see symbolic festive decorative works at mall concourse areas.

These malls are visually enthralling with ceiling lanterns, intricate flower patterns on the floor and charming figurines.

Themed “Blossom Deepavali”, the celebration at three malls under the Sunway Malls group each features different floral themes symbolising radiant energy and the gift of life.

Stunning peacock installations with tails adorned with flowers take centre stage at each mall.

At Sunway Pyramid, the ground floor’s water feature area has been transformed into a Deepavali garden, adorned with carnations that symbolise love, fascination and longevity.

The main entrance features “The Dancer” installations, creatively crafted from recycled materials.

These upcycled artworks breathe new life into the celebration while lanterns cast a warm glow over the ground floor.

Sunway Velocity is decorated with a peacock which tail is made of a vibrant tri-colour scheme of yellow, pink and red flowers that elegantly trail across the floor.

Children from the National Autism Society of Malaysia were invited to enjoy the festivity by creating their own kolam, a traditional decorative, colourful art piece to decorate floors.

Sunway Putra Mall has opted for fragrant jasmine flowers for this year’s Deepavali celebration, creating a delightful atmosphere.

Over in Subang Jaya, there’s a white elephant sculpture standing tall in Da Men mall, draped with a blanket of colourful flowers while a golden ornate carriage is displayed behind it.

This majestic theme was chosen as Hindus believe elephants are symbols of peace, mental strength, and power.

The mall’s main entrance also features an intricate kolam design made from coloured sand, rice grains and flower petals with candles in the middle.

In Kuala Lumpur, Intermark Mall has combined fashion with decor in its “Dazzling Deepavali” setup.

Apart from the grand rangoli kolam with colourful patterns, the mall also displays mannequins draped in beautiful sarees with artworks by Kimkara’s founder Shikha Grover.

She has developed an innovative approach to craft “wearable art” by designing fashion based on paintings and artworks.

Visitors can also get their Deepavali shopping done at the mall’s lively bazaar, which offers traditional Indian attire.

Over in Pavilion Bukit Bintang, the “Love and Light Deepavali” theme sees the mall decorated with shimmering diya lamps and colourful kolam surrounding the iconic crystal fountain.

Pavilion Bukit Jalil celebrates “Sweet Diwali” with a dazzling masterpiece of a golden peacock sitting on a vibrant kolam at the centre of the mall.

The giant peacock symbolises beauty and elegance.

Those visiting Berjaya Times Square in Kuala Lumpur will witness the divine elephant topiary covered in green leaves standing tall on the ground floor.

At 1 Utama shopping centre in Petaling Jaya, an impressive display features two towering, 3m-high peacock replicas at the Centre Court.

The peacocks are adorned with feathers made from an arrangement of vibrant purple, pink, and green petals, complemented by a stunning kolam, which has been enhanced with a colourful array of chalk, rice grains, and crushed limestone, set in an intricate rangoli design.

The Deepavali kolam displays an unmatched elegance, further enhanced by the presence of colourful patterns on both sides of the towering peacocks.

At Suria KLCC, shoppers can enjoy a vibrant garden with flowers and swings, along with a captivating peacock installation and a rotating kolam in the Centre Court, creating a festive atmosphere.

Stealing the spotlight is a stunning 17m kolam that is not only illuminated but is also interactive, as it elegantly rotates in response to shoppers’ interactions.

The magic continues with majestic 4m-tall peacocks and their graceful 29m-long illuminated tails.

Crafted with artificial flowers and coloured rice, these artistic installations vividly bring splendour and magnificence.

What truly sets this setup apart is vibrant lighting and captivating sound effects, crafting a truly immersive and multisensory experience for shoppers.

This captivating spectacle brilliantly captures the essence of the celebrations of the Festival of Lights.
