Surgical workshop aiming to elevate orthopaedic care

An initiative which brought together experienced and junior orthopaedic surgeons provided an opportunity for learning and skill enhancement in orthopaedic surgery as well as multiple surgical specialties.

The inaugural four-day orthopaedic cadaveric workshop was hosted by Gleneagles Hospital Penang for orthopaedic surgeons across Malaysia.

Attendees went through intensive hands-on training led by experts in various orthopaedic specialties.

Hospital chief executive officer Ivan Loh said: “The workshop underscores our commitment towards continuous learning for all healthcare professionals.

“The ultimate aim is to elevate the standard of orthopaedic care in our state and country.”

Orthopaedic surgeon Col (R) Dr Vejayan Rajoo, who is also the workshop’s organising chairman, said, “This workshop is aimed at enhancing surgical proficiency.

“The young surgeons gained valuable insight into advanced and intricate surgical techniques and approaches.”

He was positive that all participants walked away with a great learning experience.

“We remain committed to empowering the next generation of healthcare professionals in northern Malaysia,” added Dr Vejayan.

“Initiatives like this surgical workshop will help ensure more growth in the country’s healthcare industry and improve patient care.”
