A NINE-hour concert to benefit those in the music industry who have fallen on hard times will finally take place after being postponed for two years.
Organised by non-profit organisation Musicians for Musicians Association (MfM), the concert will see a line-up of 100 artists and 20 bands.
Proceeds from ticket sales will be channelled to musicians who are in their 60s, 70s or even 80s who are in dire need of financial support.
Slotted to perform are well-known names such as Alleycats, Lord Justice, Sons of Adam, Datuk Leonard Tan and Royston Sta Maria.
During a press conference, MfM president Francis Danker urged fans who had once flocked to watch these artistes play in their prime to show support.
“The event will not just be a celebration of music but a testament to the power of human kindness for those who have given us a lifetime of melodies.
“This is part of our ongoing efforts to help performers in clubs, hotels and pubs to live an independent life, specifically our friends who are facing challenges in everyday life,” he said.
He also expressed relief that the concert could finally take place.
“It hasn’t been an easy mission but we’re making sure that the show goes on as we believe it will be of significant help to our musicians,” said Danker.
Brickfields Asia College education group managing director Raja Singham said the event was a tribute to the enduring legacy of music and the spirit of humanity.
“When musicians come together to support one another, beautiful harmonies are created both on and off the stage.
“We’ll be bringing something special for the parents of the younger generation. They’ll be able to kick back and enjoy music from their own era.”
The college is one of the concert’s sponsors.
The concert is scheduled to take place at Barrister’s Hall in Menara Brickfields Asia College (BAC) in Petaling Jaya on Dec 3.
Tickets cost RM100 per person.
Meanwhile, individuals who bought or misplaced their digital tickets purchased back in 2020 can reclaim them once their purchase record is confirmed by the organising committee.
