A BRIEF verbal commotion ensued in the Selangor assembly sitting on Wednesday after Wong Siew Ki (PH-Seri Kembangan) accused Perikatan Nasional assemblymen of using their winding-up speeches to promote their coalition.
In her opening remark to debate the state's 2024 budget, Wong called out Opposition assemblymen whom she said were misusing their time instead of debating proper issues.
Sallehen Mukhyi (PN-Sabak) was delivering his speech before her, and Wong's remarks prompted several Perikatan assemblymen to try to interject.
Datuk Seri Azmin Ali (PN-Hulu Kelang), Muhammad Hilman Idham (PN-Gombak Setia) and Dr Afif Bahardin (PN-Taman Medan) were among those seen trying to interject.
Wong declined their repeated requests, saying she did not have enough time to finish her speech.
State speaker Law Weng San also denied the request from the opposition assemblymen and asked Wong to proceed with her speech.
The commotion subsequently ended, and Wong proceeded to finish her speech.
