ABOUT 1,000 people kept active at the Madani Community Carnival @ Muallim in Tanjung Malim, Perak.

The carnival was organised by Tanjung Malim District Council to encourage more community engagement.

Behrang assemblyman Salina Samsudin, who opened the carnival, said it was part of the Urban Community Sustainability Programme (PKKB) by Local Government Development Ministry.

“PKKB has always given top priority to the well-being and harmony of the urban community.

“This carnival not only focuses on a healthy and wholesome lifestyle involving walking and cycling but also exposes the people to the importance of caring for the environment,” she said.

Activities at the carnival included aerobics, plogging, community talk on dengue, colouring contest for children, and mini games.

Also taking place was Muallim Digital and eSport Festival.

Organised for the second time since 2020, the festival was to create awareness and inculcate the use of information and communication technology (ICT)among the people, especially the youth.

“We want to create an ICT culture among the community in their daily life, through various facilities to use services that have been digitised by the public and private agencies,” said Salina.

“We hope both events can have a good impact on community development.

“The events were also aimed at encouraging more people to visit the district, in conjunction with Visit Perak Year 2024,” added Salina. — By IVAN LOH
