SIBLINGS Lee Hao En and Hao Xuan took home top prizes at the “Harmony for a Better World” colouring competition held at Sunshine Square in Bayan Lepas, Penang.
The sister and brother, aged six and nine, respectively, and Mak Chu Yuen, 11, managed to beat 213 other participants to each take home a RM150 voucher, a RM50 hamper and a trophy.
The siblings’ mother Lim Suk Wen, a teacher, said they had been taking part in colouring competitions since they were four.
“Like most children, they love colouring. I have lost count on the number of trophies they brought home.
“Last December, Hao Xuan was the grand prize winner of Faber Castell’s Young Artist Award 2022, and took home a cash prize of RM2,000 and a hamper.”
Lim added that she constantly sought opportunities for her children to join competitions as she wanted to nurture their artistic abilities.
The colouring competition featured Category A (for children aged four to six), Category B (seven to nine) and Category C (10 to 12).
The Yang di-Pertua Negeri’s wife Toh Puan Khadijah Mohd Nor gave out prizes to the 39 winners.
Also present were state agrotechnology, food security and cooperative development committee chairman Fahmi Zainol and Penang Consultative Goodwill Council chairman Tan Sri Mohd Yussof Latiff.
Penang Hospital Council president Datuk Seri Abdul Rafique Abdul Karim, who was organising chairman of the competition, said the popular event had been held for eight years.“We will continue to organise this competition and make it even grander next year with the help of the Sunshine Square management,” he said.
