THOSE trying to download the i-Clean Selangor mobile app for domestic waste collection are advised that the app is going through an upgrading process and currently unavailable.

It is, however, unknown when the upgraded i-Clean Selangor app will be available.

This service, which is managed and operated by KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd (KDEBWM), was established with the objective of managing domestic rubbish collection and public cleansing services in Selangor.

Made available on Android Play Store in July 2016, the service provides convenience for the public to lodge complaints on domestic and bulk waste collection and public cleansing services. It is also available on Apple App Store.

At the moment, users who try to look for the app can only see i-Clear Selangor.

KDEBWM’s Centralised Command Centre (CCC) customer hotline informed StarMetro that the i-Clear Selangor function, a feature that was recently updated into the i-Clean Selangor app, only functioned as a Smart Waste Operation Progress Tracker for the use of KDEBWM and its subcontractors.

This function is designed to increase work efficiency and to monitor work progress carried out instantaneously.

“The new i-Clean Selangor app is not available yet,” said the hotline operator, who did not reveal when it would be available for users again.

Under the app, complainants have to submit their complaint, location and photos to facilitate KDEBWM to take prompt action.

Once a brief registration process is completed, the app requires users to upload photographs of uncollected rubbish.

The complaint is then forwarded to the CCC for records and monitoring.

The photos will be automatically geo-tagged with their location and forwarded to site supervisors, who after checking the complaint, will send them to the area sub-contractors to be resolved within 24 hours.

KDEBWM will probably call you first before coming to collect the items you want to throw away.

The service to collect items from your home is free.

A resident of Bandar Kinrara 5 in Puchong said she lodged a complaint regarding a clogged drain via i-Clean Selangor about a month ago, and the contractor sent its workers within 24 hours.

“I returned home from work and was pleasantly surprised by the quick action from KDEBWM, and the yellow plastic bags containing waste from the drain neatly arranged for collection.

“The app provides easy access to lodge reports. We just take photos, upload them on the app and explain the problem,” she said.

“In the last few years, I noticed that even collection of garden waste and cut grass are done regularly.”
