Highway builder bags three sustainability awards

PROJEK Lintasan Kota Holdings Sdn Bhd (Prolintas) bagged three accolades at Forward Faster Sustainability Awards 2023 convened by UN Global Compact Network Malaysia & Brunei (UNGCMYB) in Kuala Lumpur.

Prolintas Group chief executive officer Datuk Mohammad Azlan Abdullah was presented with the Forward Faster CEO Award, which celebrates his strategic approach for business with robust governance, environmental mindfulness and social responsibility.

“This award is a testament to Prolintas’ resolve in championing progressive infrastructure development.

“We are deeply committed to growing our enterprise and doing so in a way that nurtures and protects the people and environment around us,” he said.

The company also secured the Living Wage Award, highlighting the company’s stance on equitable remuneration, ensuring every employee receives a just and liveable wage.

It has embraced a comprehensive approach to employee development and welfare which integrates advancing progressive living wage system by offering wages above market standards.

In alliance with the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC), the company also won the Partner-ship for The Goals Recognition Award, which acknowledges its joint endeavour to evaluate the greenhouse gas (GHG) footprint of business and highway operations, laying the groundwork for a net-zero carbon ambition by 2050.

Embracing renewable energy and enhancing efficiency, the organisation is leading the transition to more effective energy technologies, including in its fleet management.

The company has been at the forefront of integrating sustainability into its strategic framework.

Some of its commitments to integrate sustainability into its business strategy include the adoption of sustainable materials in the construction of its highways, the use of Industrial-ised Building System (IBS) for highway structural components, installation of LED street lighting, water conservation through stormwater management system, transforming transit routes into communal congregating spots, applying Smart Surveillance Systems (S3) for highway safety and emergency responsiveness as well as its ongoing and comprehensive corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Moving forward, Prolintas aims to work on bolstering road safety to embracing smart technology, targeting net-zero emissions, ensuring responsible water usage, nurturing people and industrial development, maintaining a sustainable supply chain and developing comprehensive resilience strategies.
