PETALING Jaya City Council (MBPJ) has set several priorities for its budget next year.
Key areas include landscaping, improving drainage and irrigation systems, reinforcing slopes and upgrading public parks. Initiatives to make the city safer will also be implemented.
At the full board meeting, Petaling Jaya mayor Aznan Hassan said RM13mil has been allocated for landscaping works in 37 areas next year.
He said the work at public parks and open spaces involved maintaining shady trees, cleaning, cutting grass and disposal of garden waste to create a clean and beautiful environment.
“MBPJ has allocated RM5.7mil to improve recreational facilities, pedestrian walkways, and irrigation systems at 15 open spaces and parks in the city.
“A total of RM470,000 has also been allocated for the maintenance of lakes and retention ponds in public parks.

Aznan added that MBPJ had allocated RM600,000 to continue the Taman Jaya rejuvenation programme, which started this year.
MBPJ will also prioritise the upgrading of slopes and drains next year.
A total of RM2.5mil will be allocated for this purpose including repair and stabilisation work at a slope behind Lorong Utara in Section 52.
