Putrajaya workers and residents had a reason to cheer when the MRT Putrajaya Line was launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and began full operations on March 16.
Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) said the Putrajaya Line, which covers 36 stations from Kwasa Damansara to Putrajaya Sentral, carries about 130,000 passengers daily.
The Nadiputra bus service also saw increased ridership after Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd took over, eventhough a fare of RM1 was introduced.
Putrajaya Corporation (Ppj) recorded a 61.1% increase in its first-term assessment tax collection from houseowners under the Malaysia Civil Servants Housing Programme (PPAM) this year compared to 2022.
Ppj attributed the big increase to PPAM houseowners’ eligibility for a 30% assessment tax discount.
Last December, Anwar announced that the discount would apply in 2023 to residential properties costing not more than RM300,000, bought after 2017.
In March, Anwar announced that the discount had been extended to more strata and terrace house owners, also for projects completed after 2017.
PPj started collecting assessment tax in the federal administrative capital in 1999.
Putrajaya is said to have the best managed food courts including this one in Precinct 9.
StarMetro also reported that Putrajaya’s food courts were among the best managed in the Klang Valley.
At the Precinct 9 establishment, the association that runs it ensures no two tenants offer the same type of dishes.
The federal administrative capital is also known for its neighbourhood learning centres (PPK), which started 22 years ago.
It has expanded over the years, with four centres established in precincts 8, 9, 11 and 16 with a new one being built in Precinct 18.
PPKs were established to provide a conducive environment for learning and skills training, as well as a place for social interaction.
Continuing its efforts to make Putrajaya a more vibrant city, Ppj organised events and activities throughout 2023.
A mass picnic was held at Anjung Floria in Precinct 14 and the biennial orchid exhibition, Orkid Putrajaya 2023, was held in December.
