Civil servants learn about ESG through board game

Selangor government organised a workshop for civil servants to gain a better understanding of the environmental, social and governance (ESG) concepts.

State public health and environment committee chairman Jamaliah Jamaluddin said participants learned more about ESG through a board game.

“It is like Monopoly but participants decide how they are going to progress in the game by using ESG concepts,” she said.

The 32 participants comprised officers from all state local councils as well as Selangor District and Land Office.“It is our hope that greater understanding will enable better decision-making on the policies, guidelines and risk reduction related to ESG,” said Jamaliah.

“ESG principles are also in line with the state’s sustainable development plans in managing disasters, water, low carbon, waste as well as natural resources and biodiversity.”

The workshop was held in Seri Kembangan in collaboration with Persatuan Usahawan Inklusif.

The association’s patron Anja Juliah Abu Bakar said the game was created in 2020.
