Pavilion KL launched the “Dragon Dynasty,” a celebration where a variety of events and performances will be held throughout the Chinese New Year festive season.

The “Dragon Dynasty” was launched by Pavilion KL chief executive officer (retail) Datuk Joyce Yap.

The celebration was launched with a pull on ribbons attached to the Golden Dragon to awaken it, a symbolic gesture to usher in the Year of the Dragon.

In her speech, Yap said the Year of the Dragon was believed to bring an abundance of luck, as dragons hold significant power in Chinese culture symbolising strength and prosperity.

“This year, when combined with the nurturing Wood element, it is believed to bring evolution, improvement and abundance.

“It makes it the perfect time for new beginnings and setting the foundation for long-term success,” she said.

She also highlighted Pavilion KL’s accomplishments in retail sales and footfall throughout the year 2023.

“Our dedicated Pavilion KL team ended the year on a high note, creating unique and memorable experiences for shoppers, which resulted in over RM5.5bil in retail sales and over 45 million in footfall in 2023,” she said.

“We are anticipating stability and growth and exciting new opportunities driven by the 30-day visa-free entry for tourists from China and India.”

The mall also ushered shoppers to witness their magnificent decorations at the Centre Court which is adorned with two dragons guarding it while ushering in wealth and good luck, with red lanterns hanging from the ceiling.

Shoppers can also look forward to a fascinating display of interactive digital dragons travelling between Pavilion KL and Fahrenheit 88 3D LED screens at the main entrance.

Guests were then treated to the awakening of dragon performances with the robust beating of the drums, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the crowd.

Visitors were also captivated by a mesmerising live performance from Astro crew, featuring the lead track Happy Long Long Way from their latest album.

“Dragon Dynasty” then continued with a thrilling acrobatic lion dance performance that electrified the crowd at the mall’s entrance.

Chinese New Year celebration would not be complete without a proper yee sang toss, which the guests of honour joyfully participated in, symbolising the tradition of prosperity, good fortune and the sharing of abundance for the year.

Present were Pavilion REIT chief executive officer Philip Ho, its board of directors Datuk Seri Dr Mohamed Azahari Kamil, Datuk Frank Choo, Baljeet Kaur Grewal Jaswant Singh, Datuk Mearia Hamzah, Maybank marketing head Vichelle Woon and Astro content director Agnes Rozario.
