SOME 700 people gathered at the Church of Praise in Johor Baru to witness the uplifting performances of the Watoto Children’s Choir.

The group of 20 children from Uganda and South Sudan captivated the crowd through their two-hour-long performances dubbed ‘We will Go’ in two recent events at the church.

Pastor Michael Yeo said the shows drew a diverse audience from the local community, allowing them to witness the impact of love and support on the lives of the children.

“We are immensely grateful to Watoto for giving us the opportunity to show our support for their important work.

“Every note sung and every dance performed carries the spirit of hope and healing for the children in Uganda and South Sudan.

“This concert not only brought joy to our hearts but also contributes to the ongoing mission of providing a brighter future for these young lives,” he told StarMetro. The choir has been travelling the world since 1994 with the aim of spreading the message of hope for the most vulnerable children and women in Africa.

Yeo added that the melodies and rhythms the children performed encouraged attendees to join hands in making a positive change in the world.

“Their presentation not only showcased the remarkable talents of the young performers but also served as a powerful reminder of the resilience and strength found in the face of adversity,” he said.

He added that the purpose of the musical events was to raise funds for the Watoto Ministry (church), which brought assistance and hope to orphaned and vulnerable children in Uganda and South Sudan.

“The funds raised during the concerts will directly contribute to Watoto’s mission of holistic care for needy children, offering education, healthcare, and a loving family environment.

“We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who attended, donated and participated in making the concert a resounding success.

“The commitment of the community in bringing positive change to the lives of these children is a testament to the power of unity and compassion,” added Yeo.
