THERE will be no compromise with any police personnel found to be involved in misconduct, says Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Zulkipli Suhaili.

Speaking at the monthly parade, he said this was in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) No.191 regarding Regulation 3C of the Public Officers (Conduct and Discipline) Regulations 1993.

ACP Zulkipli noted that many cases of misconduct that tarnished the image of the police force had been highlighted on social media.

“I would like to emphasise that I will not compromise if any officer or police member in Sibu is involved in wrongdoing.”

He reminded heads of departments and supervisors at Sibu police headquarters to be responsible in supervising and monitoring their staff without any cover-up, cronyism, favoritism or nepotism.

ACP Zulkipli said supervisors need to be responsible and sensitive to the behavior of their subordinates.

“You need to reprimand, correct and take action against those involved in any misconduct or unethical and inappropriate dealings.

“This regulation aims to preserve and protect the image of the force,” he said.

In his speech, ACP Zulkipli said RM16mil in losses were reported for commercial crime cases in Sibu last year, compared to RM7mil in 2022.

He said the estimated value of drug seizures last year was over RM2.6mil, compared to RM1.7mil confiscated in 2022.

For the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division, he said 25,117 compounds worth RM1.4mil were issued in 2023.

In 2022, a total of 31,583 summonses worth RM974,210 were issued.

In Sibu district last year, he said there were 36 fatal accidents compared to 49 in 2022. — By ANDY CHUA
