DEVELOPER Matrix Concepts Holdings Bhd (MCHB) celebrated 27 years in the business with a grand dinner for its business associates and employees recently.

More than 500 guests were feted to a sumptuous eight-course Chinese dinner while being serenaded by a musical trio.

The guests were also treated to a multimedia presentation of the company’s milestones and its future direction.

Since its establishment in 1996, MCHB had blazed a trail in the property sector and expanded into the fields of construction, education, hospitality and healthcare.

The company, which was listed on the Bursa Malaysia Main Market since 2013, also has a footprint in Jakarta, Indonesia and Melbourne, Australia.

Reminiscing on the company’s journey from its first project in Bahau, Negri Sembilan in 1997, MCHB founder and group executive deputy chairman Datuk Seri Lee Tian Hock said the company had come far and stood strong through many challenges including fuel surges, high cost of construction material, a global economic crisis and Covid-19 pandemic.

“We have been confronted with sudden challenges with the situation of business and financial constraints.

“We managed to stand strong and confident, going through turbulent years and creating strategic initiatives to transform the challenges by repositioning our business and gaining our financial footing quickly,” he said.

Lee expressed gratitude to MCHB chairman Datuk Mohamad Haslah Mohamad Amin and board members for providing the inspiration and guidance that has driven the company’s success as a stable and reputable property developer in the state.

“My utmost appreciation to Datuk Mohamad Haslah for being here with us to celebrate this special event and auspicious occasion.

“Thank you also for being a good friend and always being there with me.

He also thanked group managing director Ho Kong Soon for his leadership in establishing the right foundation for the company and extended his appreciation to the company’s management and employees.

His sentiments were echoed by Ho, who thanked guests for their presence at the dinner.

“Your steadfast dedication has strengthened our resiliency and competitive advantages that has made a positive and significant impact on our achievements despite the challenges and uncertainties encountered.

“We have not only preserved but emerged stronger and thrived, which is a testament to the resilience, passion and camaraderie that we have forged over the years,” he said.

Reflecting on the company’s tagline “Nurturing Environments, Enriching Lives”, Ho said the company’s unique values and DNA played a pivotal role in the company’s achievements and its sustainable journey.

“I hope you all share our optimism in our organisation’s unique ecosystem to further enhance our relevancy and manifest our vitality towards a workplace culture that values collaboration, compassion, diversity and excellence,” he said.

While MCHB has won many accolades including the Malaysia Developer Awards (MDA) Top 10 Property Developer, apart from pursuing financial goals, the company pays equal emphasis to its responsibility towards Mother Nature, integrity and accountability.

He said their commitment to environmental, social and governance (ESG) is unwavering, and they were a 4-star rated constituent of the FTSE4Good Index – Bursa Malaysia’s index of Malaysian companies that demonstrate good sustainable practices.

“We recognise the importance of making a positive impact in ESG aspects via sustainable practices and engagement to make a better and brighter future for all,” he said.

Ho also touched on future plans including the development of Malaysia Vision Valley City, a new catalyst for growth that would enable MCHB to accelerate its development, the completion of the twin tower 29-storey Menara Syariah Islamic Financial Centre in Jakarta, and a strategic collaboration with United Kingdom’s Adcote School.
