A GAMING corporation’s “ang pow’er” gesture through its outreach programme has helped the needy in conjunction with Chinese New Year.

Magnum Bhd’s charity arm, MagnumCares, returned to spread kindness during the Year of the Dragon in the 40th edition of its Welfare Homes Outreach Programme.

In Klang Valley, 52 selected welfare homes − with more than 7,700 residents − as well as charity organisations benefitted from the programme.

A total of RM157,000 was given out to beneficiaries this year as part of the ang pow and cheque distribution.

More than 40 representatives from the recipient organisations received cheques worth RM3,000 each at the Magnum Chinese New Year Ang Pow Distribution 2024 event in Kuala Lumpur.

Handing out the cheques were Lee Bing Hong, representative of Bukit Bintang MP Fong Kui Lun, Magnum Group chief commercial officer and executive vice-president Datuk Chan Chee Fai and ENE (Selangor) and (East Coast) Sdn Bhd vice-president II and regional head Lim See Chin.

They were accompanied by Magnum 4D Bhd national retail and operations senior vice-president Stephanie Ang and Magnum 4D Bhd corporate communications and customer insights vice-president Goh Sin Giin.

Lim said they were honoured to continue their commitment to making a positive impact for the 40th year.

“Chinese New Year is a time for hope and new beginnings, and we are delighted that we are able to contribute towards a brighter future for all, embodying the MagnumCares slogan of ‘For You, With You’ in all our initiatives,” he added.

Society of the Chinese Disabled Persons Malaysia president Goo Ai Peng was delighted to receive the aid.

“I am very thankful to MagnumCares for their kind donation.

“The money will truly benefit the association as it will help cover necessary expenses,” he told StarMetro.

For welfare homes and charity organisations that were unable to attend, a MagnumCares team visited them to distribute ang pow amid the festive season.

Since Jan 15, MagnumCares has supported senior citizens, disabled communities and orphans in over 230 welfare homes nationwide, contributing over RM770,000 in donations, festive goodies, essential home groceries and ang pow.

MagnumCares also visited welfare homes to help with repairs and refurbishments such as installing eco-friendly LED lights, replacing old furniture and appliances, painting and renovating the homes, decorating green corners and building or refurbishing therapy and play areas for special needs children.
