GOLDEN Screen Cinemas (GSC) has opened its third Aurum Theatre, located at The Exchange TRX in Kuala Lumpur.
Spanning four floors and covering a total floor space equivalent to two football fields, GSC’s newest luxury theatre is currently the largest in South-East Asia.
Living up to the expectations of cinema goers who want luxury along with their popcorn and soda, the cinema exhibitor’s newest outlet is also home to the largest ScreenX in the country.
ScreenX offers moviegoers a 270-degree viewing experience where the screens are extended to the side walls of the auditorium.
The luxury theatre also houses two food-and-beverage outlets offering Japanese cuisine.
At the opening ceremony, an agreement was also signed between GSC and Maybank, which would entitle the banking group’s cardmembers to benefits and promotions at all three Aurum Theatre locations including The Gardens in Kuala Lumpur and Mid Valley Southkey in Johor Baru.
Maybank cardholders will continue to get 20% off for movie tickets, food and beverage and merchandise.
GSC chief executive officer Koh Mei Lee described the cinema exhibitor’s 56th outlet as an ultra-luxurious entertainment experience with 11 Instagram-worthy cinema halls, reclining sofas that can put one in a state of bliss as well as blankets and pillows that feel like soft clouds to the touch.
“The launch of Aurum Theatre at The Exchange TRX marks a positive start to the Year of the Dragon.
“It reiterates our commitment in bringing innovative, future-ready experiences to movie-goers,” said Koh.
More than just a place to watch movies, she said the space could also cater to private events like art exhibitions and product launches.
Maybank cards and group community financial services head B. Ravintharan K. Balakrishnan said cardholders from the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Cambodia and Brunei visiting Malaysia could also enjoy the same benefits.
“We can’t wait to see them revel in cinematic masterpieces while creating magical moments together,” he said.
In line with the agreement between GSC and the banking group, there is a hall named Maybank Comfort Cabin featuring seats from a premium Norwegian sofa brand.
Hong Kong actor Tony Leung also visited the theatre.
The seat he sat on is located in the La Romance Hall which features coral-hued seats.
