THE 113-year-old Arulmigu Rajamariamman Devasthanam is incorporating digital technology in its services.
Temple chairman V. Raja Selan said its committee was proud to launch an app and self-service kiosk for devotees.
“We transformed our entire management system from manual to digital.
“It is an innovative approach which will ensure quality services for devotees and visitors,” he said.
The temple is located on Jalan Ungku Puan in Johor Baru.
Raja Selan added that the temple was also looking into introducing virtual reality (VR) technology in the coming months.
“Besides embracing technology, Arulmigu Rajamariamman Devasthanam aims to be the first temple in Malaysia to obtain ISO 9000 certification by May this year,” he said.
Grasp Software Solutions Sdn Bhd director Dr S. Govindaraj said the temple management system consisted of 50 functions covering activities like prayers, hall and temple bookings plus cash and in-kind donations.
Govindaraj added that other functions available in the system were inventory, accounting, user privilege, human resources, registration of members, cemetery management, document archives and broadcasting of information via WhatsApp and email.
“Under this system, we are also introducing a self-service kiosk to use within the temple for cashless services,” he said, adding that the new technology would reduce the manual workload of the temple management.
“This system will provide space for transparent and professional management besides allowing all documents to be organised properly,” he said.
Johor unity, culture and heritage committee chairman K. Raven Kumar, who launched the app and kiosk, said it was the first Hindu temple in Malaysia to have its own app and online booking system.
