Hospital Sultanah Nora Ismail (HSNI) in Batu Pahat is the first district hospital in Johor to get a cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scanner.
Contributed by Gleneagles Hospital Johor (GHJ), it is hoped that the detailed diagnostic imaging equipment, useful for dental health services, can lead to improved patient care and treatment outcomes as well as reduce waiting time.
HSNI is also hoping that the machine will help reduce turnaround time and travel durations hence reducing the public’s health burden.
In a statement, GHJ said this effort exemplified its commitment to building strong alliances with public health centres, fostering a collaborative approach to address healthcare challenges and improve access to advanced medical services.
Through this public-private partnership, GHJ is aiming to showcase the effectiveness of working together in addressing healthcare needs, setting a precedent in mapping better accessibility to quality healthcare in Johor and the country.
GHJ chief executive officer Dr Kamal Amzan said, “It also advocates for healthcare accessibility through empowering public hospitals.
“GHJ believes that HSNI can utilise and continuously provide benefit to the public in getting more detailed diagnoses and treatment for their health concerns.”
As the first private hospital in the region to lead this effort, GHJ also called for more private hospitals and other institutions to work together to help public hospitals have access to facilities that are far from reach.
It said any contributions to government hospitals underscored the importance of collaboration between private and public healthcare sectors to ensure state-of-the-art medical technologies were accessible to the community.
