WHOLESOME meals were distributed to residents in public housing in Kuala Lumpur by volunteers who took part in the “Bubur Lambuk Bersama Komuniti Merdeka 118” initiative.

PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn Bhd (PMVSB), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB), embarked on its first-ever bubur lambuk-making initiative with its neighbours to be shared with communities surrounding the Merdeka 118 precinct.

PNB and PMVSB staff prepared the bubur lambuk and gave almost 450 packs to residents at the Seri Sarawak, Jalan Hang Tuah, Loke Yew and Seri Selangor flats.

PNB group head of real estate, Idros Mosin said the effort was to bring them closer to their neighbours within the Merdeka 118 precinct.

“We believe that initiatives like this cultivate continuous interaction with the community.

“As the Merdeka 118 development progresses, we are committed to ensuring that the surrounding communities are not only included but prioritised in our efforts as we move forward together.

“We are also pleased to see our team members volunteering their time and embracing this initiative in the spirit of this holy month,” he said.

PMVSB’s head of communications, Liza Karim said, “As we observe Ramadan, giving back to the community and supporting those in need is important to us.

“The programme reflects our effort to strengthen bonds with our community, especially those within the precinct.”

Seri Sarawak Residents Association chairman Mohd Azmi Zakaria expressed their gratitude to PMVSB for the initiative.

“The members from both PNB and PMVSB coming together for this bubur lambuk initiative truly warms our hearts. We look forward to building a strong relationship with Merdeka 118 in the future,” he said.

To date, PMVSB has spearheaded various community-driven engagements to empower the surrounding community and drive positive change within the Merdeka 118 precinct.

This included the Merdeka 118 Community Grants Programme and the Merdeka 118 Youth Programme.
