ONE of the durian trade’s leading players marked a significant milestone this week with the grand launch of its groundbreaking durian trade platform.
The launch event which took place in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, commenced with a ceremonial signing of strategic cooperation agreements between Durian Boat Global Sdn Bhd and 33 Malaysian-Chinese business partners, symbolising a new era of collaboration in durian trade.
In attendance were Federal Government ministers, Shenzhen Municipal Yantian District Municipal officials from China, as well as prominent figures from the Malaysian and Chinese business communities, media representatives and industry leaders.
In their speeches, Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying, Durian Boat Global chief executive officer Jerry Lye and Shenzhen Municipal Yantian District Party’s deputy secretary Gu Yunhong emphasised the platform’s mission to facilitate direct durian trade between Malaysia and China.
They highlighted the importance of leveraging technology and supply chain integration to deliver high-quality durian fruits to consumers worldwide.
Jerry also unveiled plans for the Durian Boat mobile application – a membership platform developed to offer consumers in Malaysia, Singapore and China convenient access to durian products and services both online and offline at fair prices.
Additionally, there will be further integration of 5G eco-business to see a new concept of Malaysian culture with the establishment of a centre of excellence.
Speakers at the launch also shared valuable insights into the company’s aspirations, emphasising the importance of agriculture and tourism.
The event also featured insightful discussions on the economic and cultural significance of the durian trade between Malaysia and China, highlighting the platform’s role in fostering bilateral cooperation and promoting tourism.
The entire ecosystem of the Durian Boat app is financially backed by the Bank of China (Malaysia) Bhd.
With ambitious targets to export 240,000 tonnes of durian fruits and achieve a procurement value of RM9.6bil within three years, Durian Boat Global has signed contracts to occupy 28,327ha of plantation land.
This is projected to result in an annual production of 350,000 tonnes of durian.
China VX Coldchain Logistic and SF Express are providing a warehousing facility capable of handling one million tons of durian, ensuring the premium quality of fruits delivered to consumers.
Durian Boat Global will also be establishing numerous “Durian Cities” in Malaysia, creating iconic durian destinations.
This initiative will be complemented by the setup of 2,000 Durian Boat Experience Centres in China in an effort to promote Malaysian culture and attract three million tourists to visit Malaysia.
A forum session was also initiated by the Malaysia-China Durian Tourism Board.
The discussion focused on the theme of ecosystems encompassing tourism, trade and cross-border activities aimed at strengthening the harmonious working relationship between Malaysia and China.
Jerry said the event, which mirrored Durian Boat Global’s commitment to offer top quality products and services, marked an important milestone in its 30 years in the durian industry.
