IN A bid to promote cleanliness and community spirit, Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) launched the “Bersih Setiap Tempat (BeST) Putrajaya” campaign.

The campaign, which involved community activities such as cleaning the pedestrian walkway, plogging and gotong- royong, also saw the participation of stakeholders such as Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation (SWCorp), Alam Flora Sdn Bhd and other local agencies.

This year, the campaign launched BeST@Surau, a programme involving four surau in Putrajaya, starting with Surau Al-Muhajirin in Precinct 9.

The volunteers took part in cleaning activities in and around the surau including toilets, student activity spaces, public areas as well as helping to dispose of bulk waste.

PPj president Fadlun Mak Ujud, who launched the programme, said a clean environment was pivotal for community health.

“This is also in line with Putrajaya’s image as a clean city,” said Fadlun.

PPj also introduced “Projek Pahala” that encouraged residents to donate proceeds from the sale of their recycled goods, to the surau.

This is aimed at instilling a culture of sustainability while supporting local religious institutions. ― By RACHANAH SUGUMARAN
