NEW on the vibrant dining scene of Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur, is a charity-oriented food hall.
Group managing director Vivek Sasheedren said The Pantry was created with a mission to serve the community by offering affordable food while focusing on social and sustainability efforts.
“We are committed to providing a variety of cuisines, including Western, Thai, Nyonya, Malay, Indian and Chinese.
“Ipoh’s famous white coffee and toast are available for breakfast, lunch and dinner,” he said of the collaborative venture between eight vendors including Gerai Ah Kow (from Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur) and The Cutting Board led by a former hotel restaurant chef.
The launch was attended by Yayasan Prihatin Nasional (Prihatin) chief executive officer Mohd Aizuddin Ghazali.
Guests, meanwhile, included 20 children from Pertubuhan Al-Firdaus in Denai Alam, Selangor.
“For every food item purchased, RM1 is donated to support programmes on feeding the hungry, educational aid and disaster relief through Prihatin,” said Aizuddin.
Since the beginning of this year, he said, Prihatin had assisted over 8,000 financially challenged students and provided disaster relief.
“Vivek has always stood by his motto of ‘investing in people’ and with his latest social and sustainability initiative, he has shaped a selfless idea into reality,” Aizuddin added.
