'It's been a privilege and an honour', mayor Mohd Fauzi says as he bids goodbye to MBSJ


DATUK MOHD Fauzi Mohd Yatim, Subang Jaya City Council’s (MBSJ) third mayor who had served for 13-months told councillors and employees, at his farewell on Friday (May 31), that it was a “huge privilege and honour to serve Subang Jaya, a vibrant city”.

Mohd Fauzi has been appointed as the Shah Alam City Council’s (MBSA) 12th mayor effective June 4, following the retirement of its mayor Cheremi Tarman, a civil engineer.

On Thursday (May 30), Selangor state secretary Datuk Haris Kasim handed over the appointment letter and mandate to Mohd Fauzi in a simple ceremony at Bangunan Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah.

Mohd Fauzi thanked each of his staff for their trust and support extended to him.

“I thank all for their commitment to serving the people of Subang Jaya, and to continue the vital work of being effective, exercising integrity and decorum to the city council on which we are privileged to serve.

"It is an honour to work alongside all in the council,” he added.

MBSJ deputy mayor Zulkurnain Che Ali said in the short span of time, Mohd Fauzi had led the council with a steady hand, with a steadfast push for good governance and encouraged employees to give exceptional service.

Prior to his appointment as MBSJ’s mayor, Mohd Fauzi, who hails from Terengganu, was the former Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) president and Sepang Municipal Council (MPSepang) president.

Previously, Mohd Fauzi also served as Hulu Selangor district officer (2015-2019) and Gombak district chief assistant officer from 2011 to 2016.

Mohd Fauzi also holds a Bachelor of Social Science (Honours) from Universiti Sains Malaysia and a Diploma in Public Management from the National Institute of Public Administration (Intan).

He had also served as the chief assistant secretary of the corporate division of the Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT).
