THE call is out for travel enthusiasts to gear up as Malaysia unveils its premier gateway to China’s diverse travel delights.

Guided by China Culture Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia-China Folklore Culture Tourism Association is organising its first-ever travel fair, “Nihao! China” from June 14 to 16.

Featuring over 200 booths, the fair will run from 10am to 9pm at Pavilion Bukit Jalil Exhibition Centre Level 5 (Pink Zone).

“Visitors can expect performances by Ningxia’s professional singing and dancing team, flash mobs, traditional Malay dance, lion dance, Shaolin Kung Fu and the 24 Festive Drums,” said Malaysia-China Folklore Culture Tourism Association president Penny Liao.

Highlighting the excitement, Liao announced sponsored prizes available at the fair, such as cash giveaways, vouchers and travel tickets.

“The first 100 visitors on June 14 will receive RM50 in cash.

“Also up for grabs are various prizes, including personalised items, passes to Farm in the City, and vouchers for Haidilao hotpot and hotel stays.

“Visitors also stand a chance to win the grand prize of business class round-trip air tickets sponsored by China Southern Airlines,” she said at a press conference at China Culture Centre Kuala Lumpur.

Joining Liao at the press conference was China Southern Airlines Company Limited Kuala Lumpur office general manager Eric Wang, who said the fair’s appeal would be bolstered by other promotions.

“As the fair’s official airline partner, we offer promotions including ‘buy one get one free’ and ‘group travel discounts’ on air tickets.

“We also partner with leading travel agencies to present ‘China Southern Picks’ travel packages, offering diverse routes to China for Malaysian travellers.

“Along with that are raffle prizes and exquisite China Southern cultural and creative souvenirs on-site,” Wang said.

Amid the festive 50th anniversary of China-Malaysia diplomatic relations, China Cultural Centre director Zhang Jiexin expressed optimism regarding the fair’s potential to aid China’s tourism recovery programme.

“I believe this fair, following President Xi Jinping’s extension of the visa validity until the end of 2025 from the original end date of 2024, will aid in the recovery of tourism markets between China and Malaysia,” he said.

Also present at the press conference were Chinese Embassy secretary Chen Chuang, Malaysia Tourism International Promotion Division (Asia and Africa) senior assistant director Mohd Ashrul Ashraf Mohd Noor and Industrial and Commercial Bank China (ICBC) Kuala Lumpur branch head Li Jun.
