TO CELEBRATE its second anniversary, Lotus’s Setia Alam held a picnic for special children.
What made the event even more special for the guests was the presence of two alpacas.
Lotus’s Malaysia teamed up with Tender Touch Paediatric Rehab and Cerebral Palsy Malaysia Association (GAPS) to provide the children therapy sessions with the animals.
Twenty special children were greeted by the two alpacas, Romeo and Mocha, from Zahara Garden in Gopeng, Perak at the hypermarket in Shah Alam, Selangor.
The children had an enjoyable time playing with the animals and taking part in painting sessions before being treated to light refreshments.
Lotus’s communications and sustainability head Hanim Hamdan said the event was designed to enable children with special needs to engage in social activities.
“We admire the work that people in Tender Touch and GAPS do for the well-being of children with special needs.
“Thus, we organised this event to give these children and their parents an opportunity to relax and connect as well as interact with Romeo and Mocha.
“Given the effectiveness of animals in reducing stress and anxiety for both children and adults, we hope everyone derives these benefits from spending time with the alpacas at Lotus’s outlets,” she said, adding that the animals will be making an appearance at the Tanjung Pinang and Sungai Dua outlets on July 6, and Seberang Jaya and Bukit Mertajam outlets on July 7.
