A park in Taman Usahawan, Kepong, Kuala Lumpur is in need of a makeover as it has fallen into disrepair over the years.

Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng said the public was unable to utilise the park as it had been poorly maintained the last 20 years.

He said it needed to be upgraded and requested for an RM1mil allocation from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to repair and purchase new equipment.

During a visit to the park in Jalan Metro Perdana Timur 5, StarMetro noticed a broken bench and overgrown pavements that posed safety hazards.

There were also two unused sepak takraw courts, with one of its net torn off and soil erosion affecting its cement floor.

Lim urged DBKL to add essential equipment that would draw people to the park.

“The park’s strategic location, surrounded by commercial and residential properties, means people would come here to relax, especially during weekends,” he said.

DBKL Landscape Development and Recreation Department representative Faisal Izzat Mahusin, who was present during the site visit with Lim, said he would discuss with the department director to decide on the budget and design for the park makeover.
