Sports, arts showcase set for Sibu

THE highly popular What About Kuching Festival (WAK) is spreading its wings to Sibu, Sarawak.

Happening from July 25 to 28 at Sibu Heritage Centre, the event showcases a vast range of genres such as live music, sports challenges, arts and craft, children’s programmes and community activities.

Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) deputy chairman Mohammad Iskandar Roseley said WAK was an open-access festival platform that welcomed creative communities from Sibu and the surrounding areas.

“Since its inception as a grassroots festival in 2017, WAK has evolved into a significant feature in our tourism calendar, drawing an audience of 277,766 in 2023,” he said.

The success has led the movement being expanded to other cities in Sarawak, especially Sibu and Miri, he added.
