Work on Lestari Putra mosque to begin next year

CONSTRUCTION of the Lestari Putra mosque in Taman Lestari Putra, Seri Kembangan, will begin next year and take 36 months to complete.

Selangor Islamic and cultural innovation committee chairman Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah said the cost of building the mosque was about RM20mil, allocated under the 13th Malaysia Plan.

He said the Selangor government would allocate RM3mil for the initial cost of earthworks and building design.

He was replying to Abbas Salimi Azmi (Seri Serdang-PH) who asked at the Selangor State Assembly about the status and funding of the proposed mosque.

Abbas Salimi said there was a need to speed up the construction of the mosque as there was a high population of Muslims in the area, and a place for worship was much needed to carry out community activities.

Mohammad Fahmi said the Selangor government was aware of the growing community’s needs.

On another question by Abbas Salimi regarding the construction of Sekolah Rendah Agama Puchong Utama that has an allocation in the 12th Malaysia Plan, Fahmi said work would start in 2026.
