THE “Jom Jelajah Bahagianya Petaling Jaya 2024” community-driven event marked the grand finale of Petaling Jaya city’s 18th anniversary celebrations.

The event, which featured elements of The Amazing Race, treasure hunt and food hunt saw over 200 participants exploring the city’s unique attractions through various engaging missions.

Key locations like the Damansara Chocolate Museum, MBPJ Museum, The Spine, ECO Plaza Recycling, Urban Orchard, Petaling Jaya Community Library and History Corridor were chosen as checkpoints, showcasing iconic spots around the city.

The venues were selected with the aim to promote Petaling Jaya as an Art City, a status that it earned from the Selangor government in 2015.

The programme also aimed to promote sustainable development of culture, arts and heritage in alignment with Petaling Jaya City Council’s (MBPJ) aspirations as outlined in the Petaling Jaya Smart, Sustainable and Resilient Strategic Plan 2030 (PJSSR 2030), National Tourism Policy 2020-2030 and the National Cultural Policy 2021.

Besides its goal of promoting tourism, the event also emphasised the need for integrity among government servants and the public.

This was cleverly done by integrating principles of integrity into games with puzzles and challenges.

The event attracted 50 teams comprising representatives from Housing and Local Government Ministry, Defence Ministry, Kuala Lumpur City Hall, Sepang Municipal Council, Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia, Selangor Islamic Religious Department, Universiti Teknologi Mara, Bank Simpanan Nasional, Inland Revenue Board (LHDN), media personnel, MBPJ and the public.

The team that scored the highest points was declared the winner.

LHDN’s Gold Fingers team emerged victorious, taking home RM1,800 in cash.

Ninja Warriors, a public category team, and Seekers from MBPJ won RM1,200 and RM800, respectively.
