Local comfort meets global delights for weekend high-tea, dinner in the city


The Teppan BBQ station has sizzling steaks and seafood.

New buffet offerings are on the cards come July 12 at Melting Pot Cafe, Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

It begins over dinner with a variety of cuisines to whet one’s appetite.

A stunning seafood-on-ice display featuring oysters, tiger prawns and mussels is always the crowd pleaser.

For barbecue lovers, there’s the Teppan BBQ section with steaks, tender lamb shoulder and even ikan bakar.

A taste of Japan is also part of the buffet line-up with a selection of maki rolls and sashimi.

Fish curry, Hainanese chicken rice, rendang tok, sambal udang and mee goreng are among local favourites to look out for.

From neighbouring Thailand are a selection of dishes including white tom yam coconut chicken soup, grilled beef salad, glass noodle salad with prawns, shrimp rice and green curry.

Then for dessert, one can delight in Portuguese egg tarts, pengat pisang and Nyonya kuih.

Buffet dinner is priced at RM142.80nett per adult and RM84nett for children.

There will be a live performance by the Begema 5 Band.

Those preferring high-tea buffets will be happy to learn of the Saturday and Sunday affair starting July 13.

Signature local dishes are beef and chicken satay, Hainanese chicken rice, beef rendang, chicken tandoori, ikan tiga rasa, fried Hokkien mee hoon, banana fritters, vegetable fritters and ais kacang.

For more savouries, there are gyoza dumplings, takoyaki and the popular smashed burger.

The high-tea is priced at RM91.80nett per adult and RM54nett for children aged six to 11.
