Taiwanese mango mania is here

MANGO lovers can rejoice as farmers from Tainan, Taiwan’s top mango-producing district, have brought their prized fruit varieties to our shores.

Shoppers at Aeon supermarkets can now find the Aiwen, Jin Huang, Shih Tzu and other varieties of Taiwanese mangoes on the shelves.

Leading the charge at the launch was Tainan mayor Huang Weizhe, who proudly introduced the new offerings. With him were Taiwan’s minister to Malaysia Bu Zhengmin, Aeon representatives, and trading companies from both countries.

The launch wasn’t just about introducing new fruits; it was a sensory experience.

A delectable “Tainan Mango Ice Mountain” stole the show at the event’s media conference.

This impressive dessert, featuring juicy cubes of Aiwen, Jin Huang and Shih Tzu mangoes, was a clear nod to the “Tainan Mango Ice” recently featured on CNN as one of the world’s Top 10 desserts.

Malaysian media and Internet celebrities at the event were treated to the dessert that reportedly sparked a buying frenzy in Aeon supermarkets.

Local customers were impressed by the Tainan mangoes’ rich aroma, sweetness, low fibre content and firm texture.

Each variety offers a unique twist: the Aiwen boasting a sweet and sour balance, while the Jin Huang and Shih Tzu delight with their pure sweetness and fine fibre.

Aeon members can enjoy Tainan mango tastings during Members’ Day until July 14.

For those who prefer online shopping, local distributor Natural House Taiwan & Japan has partnered with ecommerce platforms to offer cross-border ordering and delivery of “Tainan Mango Treasure Boxes.”

Tainan city government agriculture bureau deputy director Chen Zhongjie expressed confidence that Taiwan’s agricultural products would continue to be a hit with Malaysian consumers.
