Up to RM60,000 in grants for new UK-Malaysia artistic team-ups

British Council Malaysia (BCM) has called for applications for its “Connections Through Culture” arts grants.

The RM4.2mil programme is designed to foster artistic and cultural collaborations between the United Kingdom and Asia-Pacific countries.

The grants aim to spark new international team-ups between the UK and Malaysia.

Eligible organisations and artists of all genres looking for funds to develop their creative projects are encouraged to apply.

Applicants in Malaysia can apply for grants of up to RM60,000.

However, proposals responding to climate change and promoting diversity and inclusion may be prioritised during final decision-making.

Fund-seekers should note that projects supported by this grant must include at least one UK-based applicant and one applicant based in Malaysia.

BCM director Jazreel Goh shared how the grants could spark big ideas and major collaborations. “We’re proud to be providing this support, keeping the doors open for artists in both countries to make connections and showcase their talents on the international stage.

“‘Connections Through Culture’ grants not only create meaningful artistic exchanges but help to bring greater understanding that will enrich the global creative landscape,” she said.

To support artists and art organisations through the application process, BCM is offering a toolkit with tips and insights into the programme’s context.

There are two remaining information kits on July 23 and 25.

Frequently-asked questions and details about the sessions can be found on the BCM website.

Applications close on Sept 2.
