The traditional ngepan Iban will be front and centre at Sarawak’s Miss Borneo Dayak Cultural Festival (BDCF) 2024 pageant this August.

The beauty contest will be held at Dataran Tun Tuanku Bujang Phase I in Sibu in conjunction with Borneo Cultural Festival.

Miss BDCF 2024 organising chairman Senorita Salleh said participants would be required to don ngepan, the Iban women’s traditional wear, for the final night on Aug 15.

“Miss BDCF 2024 will take home RM5,000 in cash with a crown, sash, trophy, hamper and flowers,” she said.

The first runner-up will receive RM3,000 while the second runner-up will take home RM2,000, along with sash, trophy and hamper.

Fourth to eighth place finishers will each receive RM800 each.

The pageant is organised by Sarakup Indu Dayak Sarawak Sibu in collaboration with Sibu Municipal Council.

It is open to single Dayak women from around the country between the ages 18 and 30, standing at a minimum height of 157.48cm.

The closing date for participation is Aug 3.
