For the sixth year in a row, Bar Trigona at Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur has made its mark among Asia’s 50 Best Bars.
This year’s edition of the list ranks the bar at number 36 and cements its reputation as a mainstay of Malaysia’s exciting cocktail scene.
With sustainability at its core, the bar is known for its imaginative use of local ingredients.
“On behalf of the entire team, I’d like to thank Asia’s 50 Best Bars and our wonderful guests, without whom this success wouldn’t be possible,” said head bartender Rohan Matmary.
“We’re excited to build on this achievement and continue representing Malaysia with pride on the global cocktail stage.”
In previous years, Bar Trigona won the Ketel One Sustainable Bar Award and Siete Misterios Best Cocktail Menu Award.
In May, it was listed among the Top Ten Best International Hotel Bars in the World at the 2024 Spirited Awards.
Launched this year, Bar Trigona’s “Colour Me Curious” menu allows guests to try cocktails of various hues, aromas and flavours inspired by Malaysia’s natural landscapes.
With a second edition of the menu coming soon, there is plenty more to discover.
Taking a farm-to-glass approach, Bar Trigona uses homegrown ingredients and works closely with local farmers and food producers.
Cocktails are centred around locally sourced fruits, herbs, spices and flowers.
The team also uses oft-ignored ingredient parts such as seeds, leaves and roots.
“Along with reducing food waste and carbon emissions, our zero-waste techniques also help to unlock unusual new flavour profiles,” added Rohan.
The bar’s name, decor and cocktails are inspired by trigona honey.
Framed by sweeping views of Kuala Lumpur, the bar’s striking hive-inspired interiors reflect its origins.Prized for its unique citrus notes, trigona honey is made by stingless bees native to Malaysia.
Guests can sample the distinctive and seasonal taste of sustainably farmed local trigona honey that the bar sources as a way of preserving bee habitats and supporting local communities.
The bar’s “Adopt a Beehive” programme invites guests to symbolically adopt a trigona hive to support sustainable beekeeping.
