UNDER the First Selangor Plan (RS-1), 33.7% of major projects and initiatives have been completed, says Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

The Mentri Besar said the remaining 66.3% were at various stages of implementation.

These projects include the Integrated Development Region in South Selangor, Sabak Bernam Development Area and the new Shah Alam Sports Complex.

RS-1 is a five-year plan focused on economic growth, empowering the people through welfare programmes, sustainable development and ensuring a capable, transparent and efficient government delivery system.

Unveiled in 2022, the plan is aimed at having Selangor contribute 30% to the nation’s gross domestic product by 2025.

“RS-1 doesn’t only include the main areas that the state aims to implement. It also represents a close working relationship with the private sector through an inclusive approach.

“So, when your (private sector) plans are included as part of the state’s economic plan, it will improve the engagement processes with state or local government agencies,” said Amirudin at Invest Selangor Bhd’s silver jubilee celebration held at a hotel in Petaling Jaya.

Present were Selangor state assembly Speaker Lau Weng San, state legal advisor Datuk Salim Soib@Hamid, state financial officer Datuk Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin, state investment, trade and mobility committee chairman Ng Sze Han, state Economic Planning Unit director Datuk Johary Anuar and Invest Selangor chief executive officer Datuk Hasan Azhari Idris.

Amirudin said the team at Invest Selangor led by Hasan had done a remarkable job.

However, he said past successes were not a guarantee of future success.

“That is the primary reason we have to look beyond Selangor’s borders – to not be content with a RM400bil economy but find ways to build a RM500bil economy in the coming two to three years.

“To go about achieving that, we cannot rely purely on services. We also need to reinvigorate Selangor’s manufacturing capacity to not only fulfil local needs but also those for South-East Asia and the larger Asia,” said Amirudin.

He said Selangor was also committed to working towards better future environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards.

During the celebration, Invest Selangor distributed awards to long-serving staff and companies with the highest approved investment projects.
